AIxTech
AIxTech is an IMDA–AI Singapore AI-fluency programme for technology professionals, combining practical coding-workflow modules, responsible-AI training and post-course support.
AIxTech
AIxTech is an AI-fluency programme launched by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and AI Singapore (AISG) for technology professionals. IMDA announced it on 8 May 2026 as part of a broader effort to prepare Singapore’s tech workforce for rapid changes in software engineering and AI-enabled work (IMDA, 8 May 2026).
Purpose and curriculum
AIxTech is designed to deepen technical and responsible-AI capabilities across the software-engineering lifecycle. The official description includes automating software-engineering tasks with AI, combining context with engineering judgement, and implementing agentic systems in multi-agent teams. IMDA says the curriculum was developed with more than 30 technology firms, AI Centres of Excellence, government agencies and Institutes of Higher Learning; that collaboration describes curriculum development, not a guarantee that every named organisation employs or accepts every trainee (IMDA, 8 May 2026).
The programme’s stated tool portfolio includes Claude, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Kiro, GLM and Agnes. IMDA says the portfolio will be reviewed and refreshed as industry conditions change, so the named tools are a dated programme description rather than a permanent entitlement to a particular commercial product. Responsible-AI training includes principles, frameworks and testing toolkits associated with the IMDA AI Verify Foundation, covering traditional, generative and agentic AI (IMDA, 8 May 2026).
Two-phase learning model
Phase 1 comprises 10 self-paced online modules totalling 18 hours, with hands-on coding-workflow training, learner support from AISG and community support. IMDA describes this format as suitable for enterprises sending employees for upskilling without disrupting work or studies. Phase 2 provides post-course support through a S$600 credit for continued AI-coding-solution access, a virtual community with electronic resources and an engineering playbook, physical meetups or sessions, and advanced modules that may later feed back into Phase 1 (IMDA, 8 May 2026).
Participants can seek help from AISG trainers through community questions, a central ticketing system for a dedicated trainer, or in-person clinic sessions. These are support channels described in the announcement; they do not turn AIxTech into a general software-support service or guarantee a job, promotion, project placement or commercial outcome (IMDA, 8 May 2026).
Fees, eligibility and relationship to TeSA
For the terms announced by IMDA, the course fee is S$180 for tech professionals who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents. Self-sponsored participants may use SkillsFuture Credit and, where applicable, NTUC’s Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) to offset course fees. Final-year Information and Digital Technologies students who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents can attend AIxTech for free under the announced terms. The programme’s individual fee and student arrangements should be rechecked before enrolment because they are current administrative terms, not permanent statutory benefits (IMDA, 8 May 2026).
AIxTech sits within the expansion of the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) under the National AI Impact Programme. IMDA stated a three-year goal to upskill 40,000 tech professionals, including final-year IDT students, through the wider TeSA expansion. That target is a programme-level workforce objective, not the number of AIxTech seats, graduates, applicants or guaranteed beneficiaries (IMDA, 8 May 2026; National AI Impact Programme).
AIxTech is therefore a structured training and post-course-support programme, not a university qualification, a universal free course, an AI regulator or a promise of access to every listed coding tool. Its announced scope should also be kept distinct from OpenAI’s collaboration with IMDA and AISG under OpenAI for Singapore, and from the separate TIP Alliance+ initiative for ITE and polytechnic pathways (IMDA, 8 May 2026; OpenAI for Singapore; TIP Alliance+).
