Enhanced ComCare Interim Assistance 2026
Singapore's 2026 temporary ComCare enhancement provides at least S$250 a month to eligible lower-income households for up to three months, with a separate Temporary Supplementary Allowance for eligible SMTA clients.
Enhanced ComCare Interim Assistance 2026
Singapore’s 2026 enhanced ComCare Interim Assistance is a temporary measure for lower-income households facing financial difficulty amid higher costs. The enhancement applies from 17 August to 31 December 2026 and is administered by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and the People’s Association (PA) (MSF, published 29 July 2026, accessed 30 August 2026). It changes how eligible applications are assessed during that period; it is not a permanent replacement for ordinary ComCare rules.
Interim Assistance eligibility and amount
The enhanced Interim Assistance route is for lower-income Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents who have at least one Singapore Citizen immediate family member in the same household, reside in public housing and are not currently receiving ComCare assistance (MSF, published 29 July 2026, accessed 30 August 2026). These conditions describe the household and status boundary; the enhancement is not an automatic payment for every resident, citizen or public-housing household.
During the enhancement period, all eligible households receive at least S$250 a month, while households with greater needs, such as those with more dependants, may receive higher monthly assistance. A household may receive the enhanced Interim Assistance for up to three months, depending on its circumstances (MSF, published 29 July 2026, accessed 30 August 2026). The usual Interim Assistance income criterion is S$800 per capita household income a month, but MSF says that criterion will be applied more flexibly during the temporary enhancement, including for households above the current threshold.
Application and relationship to other ComCare assistance
Households seeking Interim Assistance can apply through the SupportGoWhere portal or approach a Community Club or Community Centre (MSF, published 29 July 2026, accessed 30 August 2026). Households that need longer-term support may instead be assessed for other forms of ComCare assistance; the temporary three-month ceiling is therefore not a general maximum for every ComCare pathway.
The same announcement creates a Temporary Supplementary Allowance for households already receiving ComCare Short-to-Medium-Term Assistance (SMTA) that need additional help. Following a review, their monthly cash assistance increases by at least 5% or S$50, whichever is higher, for up to three months, and this allowance has the same 17 August–31 December 2026 period (MSF, published 29 July 2026, accessed 30 August 2026). The allowance is separate from the enhanced Interim Assistance route and does not mean that all ComCare clients receive the same increase.
