Fourth India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, August 2026

The fourth India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) was held in Singapore on 20 August 2026, concurrently with the fourth India–Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR). The official statement presents the meetings as bilateral platforms within the countries’ longstanding partnership, covering sustainability, digitalisation, skills development, healthcare and medicine, advanced manufacturing and connectivity (MFA and MTI, 20 August 2026).

Cooperation areas and business discussions

The ministers welcomed initiatives intended to develop new growth industries in Singapore and India and create trade and investment opportunities for businesses in both countries. The ISBR discussions additionally covered improving the ease of doing business in India, capital-market flows, cooperation in artificial intelligence, and ways for Indian businesses to work with Singapore to access international markets (MFA and MTI, 20 August 2026).

Instruments exchanged and implementation boundary

The ministers witnessed the exchange of two Memoranda of Understanding and one Letter of Intent: a food-safety MOU between the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and the Singapore Food Agency; a maritime-heritage MOU between Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways; and a telecommunications-and-broadcasting LOI between India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority and Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority. The statement also recorded that the National Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing in Chennai would be further progressed with support from the Singapore Cooperation Programme (MFA and MTI, 20 August 2026).

These instruments record cooperation commitments or intentions; the announcement does not by itself establish completed facilities, automatic market access, a customs arrangement, or completed projects. The roundtables are therefore best understood as coordination and business-engagement platforms whose specific outcomes depend on the relevant agencies and follow-up arrangements (MFA and MTI, 20 August 2026).
