Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore is the Catholic diocesan institution serving the Roman Catholic Church in Singapore. It operates through parishes, diocesan offices, schools and social-service organisations, and it maintains its own ecclesiastical governance. It is not the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, a statutory board, or the ecumenical National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) (Archdiocese parish directory).

Parish and diocesan structure

The Archdiocese's parish directory is the primary place to check current parish names, locations and contact details. Parish pastoral councils and parish offices operate within the Archdiocese's Catholic structure, while the Archbishop and diocesan offices coordinate the wider Church in Singapore. Parish listings are operational information and can change; they should not be treated as a census of Catholics or as a list of every Catholic institution.

The Archdiocese is distinct from the NCCS, which is an ecumenical fellowship involving Protestant and other Christian bodies. It is also distinct from the Methodist Church in Singapore, the Anglican Diocese of Singapore and the Presbyterian Church in Singapore, each of which has its own denominational governance. Cooperation on social or interfaith questions does not merge those institutional authorities.

Pastoral plan and mission

The Archdiocese launched its 2025–2035 pastoral plan, “Communion in Mission,” in September 2025. The plan is an internal diocesan framework for strengthening communion, mission and participation in the Catholic community; it is not a Singapore Government policy, legal instrument or public funding scheme (Archdiocese, Pastoral Plan 2025–2035). Future implementation details should be read from the Archdiocese's own notices and from the relevant parish or diocesan office.

The Archdiocese's pastoral planning documents also describe Catholic life through worship, formation, family and youth ministry, education, social action and care for people in need. These are denominational mission areas rather than universal entitlements. A Catholic service provider may be a separate charity, school or social-service organisation even when it is linked to the Archdiocese.

Education, welfare and population denominators

Catholic institutions contribute to education, healthcare, welfare and community life in Singapore. The Archdiocese's institutional network should not be conflated with the number of people who report Catholic affiliation. The 2020 Census figure for Catholics covers resident persons aged 15 and over who reported that affiliation, whereas Archdiocesan pastoral documents use a broader Catholic population estimate that may include children and foreign residents; the denominators answer different questions and must remain separate (Archdiocese pastoral plan schema; see christianity and churches).

For current parish, leadership, school and service details, use the latest official Archdiocesan pages. Do not infer that every Catholic resident is an active parish member, that every Catholic institution is directly administered by the Archdiocese, or that the Archdiocese speaks for all Christian churches in Singapore.
