ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre

The renovated ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre officially reopened on 8 August 2026. Sport Singapore describes it as a community facility for participation, recreation and high-performance training, while retaining elements of the former Queenstown Sports Complex, Singapore's first neighbourhood sports complex (Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre, 5 August 2026).

Community and inclusive facilities

The new annexe contains an approximately 1,000-square-metre open-plan gym and two activity rooms, with sheltered outdoor free-to-play spaces. The gym includes conventional and inclusive strength-training equipment, including pneumatic HUR machines intended to support seniors, persons with disabilities and people with mobility concerns. Activity-room programmes include fitness offerings such as kickboxing, yoga and Zumba; individual programme schedules and fees are separate from the facility's reopening announcement (Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre, 5 August 2026).

Accessibility upgrades include a mobile pool hoist at the competition pool, ramps, a central lift, refurbished changing rooms and washrooms, and height-adjustable changing beds in accessible restrooms. The swimming complex retains a competition pool, learner's pool and two wading pools, with refreshed pool-deck flooring (Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre, 5 August 2026).

Training and high-performance facilities

The rugby field was upgraded to meet World Rugby standards and fitted with an artificial-grass system designed for the sport. The running track was resurfaced, and new team changing facilities were added. A new dry-dive facility complements the centre's iconic 4.5-metre diving pool, giving Team Singapore divers a controlled environment for high-volume repetitions without water impact (Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre, 5 August 2026).

Heritage and interpretation

The site first opened as Queenstown Sports Complex on 15 August 1970 and hosted National Day parades and sporting events. The renovation retained iconic roof elements, stone-clad planter boxes and a retaining wall near the new pool entrance. Sport Singapore says updated murals and interactive, multi-generational heritage spaces are planned from 2027; those future features should not be treated as already available in the August 2026 reopening announcement (Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre, 5 August 2026).
