Fake Websites Impersonating MHA and Home Team Agencies (August 2026)
HTX detected more than 500 fake websites impersonating MHA and seven Home Team agencies on 10 August 2026; all identified sites were taken down by 11 August, with no evidence that they had been used for scams or had compromised government systems at the time of the advisory.
Fake Websites Impersonating MHA and Home Team Agencies (August 2026)
On 10 August 2026, HTX detected more than 500 fake websites impersonating the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and seven Home Team agencies: the Singapore Police Force, Central Narcotics Bureau, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Prison Service, HTX, and Home Team Academy. MHA said the identified sites copied official branding and publicly available content and were all taken down by 11 August 2026 (MHA, 12 August 2026).
At the time of the advisory, MHA reported no evidence that the sites had been used to perpetrate scams or phish for information, and no evidence that MHA or Home Team systems had been compromised or accessed without authorisation. Those are findings stated for the investigation at that time, not a guarantee that a later impersonation site is harmless.
For verification, the public should check that a government website ends in .gov.sg, inspect the address for irregularities, and access services through the agency’s official site, the gov.sg portal, or a URL typed directly into the browser rather than an unsolicited message, social-media post, or advertisement. Suspicious sites purporting to be official MHA or Home Team sites can be reported to the Police through the ScamShield Helpline at 1799 or the Police i-Witness channel (MHA, 12 August 2026).
