Infocomm Media Clubs

Singapore's Infocomm Media Clubs (IMC) Programme is an IMDA-supported co-curricular activity (CCA) pathway for students in Ministry of Education primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute. It is designed for students interested in technology and media to strengthen their skills, learn about emerging technologies and gain industry exposure (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). The programme is part of the wider Code@SG movement, but an IMC is a school CCA rather than a universal coding requirement.

Four programme pillars

IMDA organises the IMC Programme around four pillars aligned with MOE's CCA LEAPS framework: LEARN, DISCOVER, EXCEL and LEAD (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). LEARN provides broad-based training such as artificial intelligence, game development and mobile-app development. DISCOVER provides bite-sized learning journeys showing how technology and media are used in industry. EXCEL provides a national platform for recognition through the annual National Youth Tech Championship. LEAD develops student leaders' communication, project-management, emerging-technology and tech-for-good capabilities.

Learning journeys and industry exposure

IMC members can take part in curated learning journeys with technology and media companies and professionals, linking school-based learning to real-world applications (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). IMDA's current page reports more than 460 such learning journeys held with partners since 2022, covering topics including immersive media, artificial intelligence, drones, e-sports and content creation; this is a dated cumulative programme figure, not the number of active clubs or students. Specific learning-journey applications and sign-up windows are set by the current IMDA programme arrangements.

National Youth Tech Championship

The National Youth Tech Championship (NYTC) is the IMC Programme's annual national technology competition. The 2025 edition was jointly organised by IMDA and Google Cloud with the Singapore Institute of Technology and drew more than 320 students from 67 secondary schools (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). That figure describes the 2025 competition, not all IMC members or all participating schools. NYTC participation and training are therefore opportunities within the club programme, not automatic outcomes of joining an IMC.

Distinction from related programmes

Infocomm Media Clubs deepen technology and media interests through a school CCA and structured enrichment. Code@SG is the umbrella movement that also includes Code for Fun, a broader school-based exposure programme. Digital Skills for Life teaches baseline everyday digital competencies across the population, while Digital for Life is a wider national digital-inclusion movement. An IMC membership does not itself grant a qualification, guarantee a competition place or establish an industry job or scholarship.
