Seniors Go Digital
Singapore's Seniors Go Digital programme, delivered by IMDA's SG Digital Office and Digital Ambassadors, helps older Singaporeans learn essential smartphone, e-government, e-payment and online-safety skills.
Seniors Go Digital
Singapore's Seniors Go Digital is an IMDA programme that helps senior citizens build confidence with everyday digital services and devices. The programme uses guided sessions, learning journeys and online starter resources to teach basic skills such as smartphone communication, access to digital government services, digital transactions and online safety (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). It is a learning and support programme, not a general entitlement to a smartphone, mobile plan or cash payment.
Delivery through digital ambassadors
The programme is delivered through IMDA's SG Digital Office and its Digital Ambassadors, including one-to-one guidance and small-group learning at SG Digital community hubs (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). Seniors can learn how to communicate online, use government digital services such as Singpass, make e-payments and recognise online-safety risks. The delivery model is practical coaching rather than a single classroom course: a learner may receive individual help, join a group session, use a starter resource or follow online material. The current IMDA programme page directs learners to a nearby hub or online resources; exact session arrangements should be checked through the current official channel (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026).
Skills and learning materials
Seniors Go Digital is aligned with the five-competency Digital Skills for Life framework: setting up and using smart devices, exploring information online, communicating online, transacting online, and being safe, smart and kind online (IMDA, published 10 January 2024, accessed 30 August 2026). The alignment gives trainers and learners a common vocabulary for basic digital confidence, but it does not turn the programme into a formal examination or qualification. A learner can therefore use the framework to understand what is being taught without assuming that completing a session produces a certificate, device, grant or guaranteed digital-service access. Learning may use guided coaching, starter kits, videos or other resources, depending on the available delivery channel.
Relationship to access subsidies
Digital skills support and device affordability are related but separate policy layers. IMDA describes Mobile Access for Seniors as a scheme that supports Seniors Go Digital by providing subsidised smartphones and mobile plans to eligible lower-income seniors who meet the scheme's conditions (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). Attending a learning session does not, by itself, establish eligibility for that subsidy, and the subsidy should not be treated as the definition of Seniors Go Digital. This distinction matters when a person is looking for training, a device, connectivity or financial assistance.
Seniors Go Digital is not automatically a subsidy; device and mobile-plan support belongs to the separate Mobile Access for Seniors scheme and its eligibility conditions.
Dated programme reach
IMDA's Singapore Digital Society Report, last updated 26 July 2024, stated that the SG Digital Office had engaged over 240,000 seniors through Seniors Go Digital. That is a cumulative programme-reach figure reported as of the source's publication, not a current annual enrolment count, a unique-person audit or proof that every senior completed the same training. “Engaged” should not be silently converted into “completed all five competencies”, “received a device” or “became eligible for a subsidy”; those would require separate evidence and denominators. The figure is useful for historical scale, but the live programme page and later IMDA reporting should be used for current availability and reach (IMDA, Singapore Digital Society Report, accessed 31 August 2026).
Place in Singapore's digital-inclusion system
Seniors Go Digital is the senior-focused learning and support programme within a wider set of IMDA digital-inclusion efforts. The broader Digital for Life movement brings together public, private and community partners across age groups, while Seniors Go Digital focuses on helping older learners take practical first steps and continue using digital tools (IMDA, accessed 30 August 2026). It should also be distinguished from Tech Kaki and Open Jio, which recruit citizens for product feedback and user research rather than teaching a senior-focused digital-skills curriculum. DigitalAccess@Home is different again: it tests household HDB and income conditions for subsidised home broadband and a computer package. These programmes can sit in the same digital-inclusion ecosystem without sharing eligibility, benefit, delivery or outcome rules.
